WEEK 6 (26.9.2022-30.9.2022) Friday, September 30, 2022

This week, I decided to relate students' learning with creativity. After a few weeks of observation, I managed to realize that my pupils are more interactive when it comes to group work compared to individual work. Therefore, I've already planned to include teamwork in their lesson. 


This week, my main focus is to teach prepositions to my pupils. The topics are prepositions in question form, and prepositions in descriptive language, and also I even covered gerunds this week.  


During the process of doing the lesson plan, I had to google some of the lessons. I watched several youtube videos to prepare for the lesson. Some of the videos help me to understand the topic better. My intention in watching the videos was to make sure that I know how to explain my understanding to my pupils. 




For the lesson, I printed an animated cartoon poster to show the pupils how to use prepositions. The animated poster helps pupils to understand the meaning because it is illustrated in a fun way. Therefore, pupils are more exposed to the materials.

Preparing the materials is also accessible. This is because the materials can be found on the internet and in workbook. The materials prepared by the teacher are meant to help pupils understand the lesson even more. 



Strength - The teacher manages to make sure 36/39 pupils master the topic of prepositions. The materials help pupils to understand the various use of prepositions in sentences. Time is sufficient to cover the topic. 

Weakness - Some pupils get confused with the use of prepositions in their sentences because the types of questions are different.  The material given (in my lesson plan) does not cover three levels which are lower, intermediate, and high. 

Opportunity - Pupils are able to still understand simple questions therefore teacher can still improvise pupils' understanding. 

Threat- Two pupils in the class is still not able to read. These two pupils are the biggest threat to the teacher to reach 100% understanding in the class. 

Co-curricular activity  

For co-curricular activity, I did the preparation for a competition which is the MPAJ competition for Merdeka. Then, I also did an English project which is "Spider webs" with the English teachers.

WEEK 5 (19/9/2022-23/9/2022) Saturday, September 24, 2022

Another week at SK Taman Muda! It is now week 5 since I came for my practicum. This week, I was given the opportunity to carry out my class without any problem. There is no event that happened during this week. Therefore, my lesson can be carried out smoothly. I find it easy to be more interactive with my pupils now since they are more focused on the lesson. 


In this week's lesson, I focused on the use of "I have/ I have not" in a sentence. Therefore, there are some worksheets given to the students as well. 

This week, I even had a meet-up with my mentor Ms. Nancy to talk about our lesson plan and other issues. It was a great experience for me since it helps me to improve my teaching skill.


During my classes, I covered unit 5: Eating Right. During these classes, I taught language/ grammar focus which is vocabulary and giving opinions. Pupils manage to answer questions given by the teacher too. I gave my pupils worksheets that I printed at the office and those worksheets helped my pupils to understand better. 


Strength - My class has been planned out perfectly and it is more fun compared to the last classes that I had. The class understood the lesson and become more interactive with me.


Weakness - My class has been facing some problems with my voice projection. Sometimes, students would say that my voice is not loud enough. The material given to my students was also taken lightly by the students.


Opportunity - The class is given more fun materials that will help them with their understanding. The students are more open with the lesson even though some of them are still struggling to understand simple instructions


Threat - The instruction given is quite hard for the students to understand. Students tend to ask more than one question just to understand the instruction given by the teacher. 



Co-curricular activities 


During this week, there are some extracurricular activities such as painting the wall and decorating the school. We are assigned to make sure the board for practicum teachers is well decorated. So, we stayed back to decorate the board. We were also given a task to manage the present for an event at our school.

WEEK 4 (12/9/2022-16/9/2022) Saturday, September 17, 2022

Back to school! It is now the moment I have been waiting for which is the end of school break. 


I started the week by having a class with my 4 Semangat students. The class is now given better materials that I have done research on the previous week. The rest of the week was carried out perfectly. 

The class has been a great experience for me now. The students listen attentively to the lesson and helped provide better learning for the classroom. 


This week, I will be covering the topic of unit 5: Eating Right. I had given my students some worksheets for them to understand the lesson even more. The lesson consists of teaching them uncountable and uncountable nouns.


The class activity that I did was for them to list down all the countable and uncountable nouns in front of the class. The class activity was meant to help them to identify the countable and uncountable nouns. 


Strength - The class is an advanced class so normally they would understand the lesson easily. The class is cooperative and helps the lesson move for the better.


Weakness- The event has taken some time from the class. Therefore, it is very hard for me to keep track of the lesson.


Opportunity- The class has opened a better opportunity for the students to enhance their learning in English. The class is better at communicating with the teachers.


Threat- The event and more pending events will affect the class time and therefore, this will only make the students feel more left behind in their lesson. 


Co-curricular activities


On Friday which is on 16th September 2022, the school organized an event which is Ambang Kemerdekaan. The event was carried out by the History teachers. The teachers have made a great event with the students' and other teachers' help.


We were assigned to decorate some parts of the school and so we did it during our free time.

WEEK 3 (5th - 9th September 2022) Friday, September 9, 2022

Hello! It is the second term holiday 😘


This week from the 5th of September until the 9th of September 2022, the school is on the second term holiday! All students are now on their holiday. 


Strength - The holiday will give me time to recharge and do some research to create better learning. 


Weakness - The lesson taught by me before the holiday is more likely to be forgotten. 


Opportunity - The time will be used to do some research on the lesson learned.


Threat - The homework given by the teacher to students is going to be forgotten.
