Since it is considered my first-week creating lesson plans, I did a consultation with my mentor on how to do the lesson plan. As for my first lesson, I've tried to focus on using the student's books since the majority of the pupils are more comfortable using the student's book. I even prepared some other materials such as pictures for the lesson and some worksheets.
The second week is the first week that I get to attend my classes. At first, I was given the timetable by the Penolong Kanan 1, Encik Hussein. On the first day of class, I had an introduction with my students who are from 4 Semangat. The total of pupils in the class is 38 students.
In the second week, we had a Hari Malaysia celebration which include all teachers wearing traditional attire. The event went well with the help of practicum teachers. This week turns out to be tiring but it is bearable.
Strength – I get to know my students
which are 38 students in total. I get to have a nice introduction and
understand what the students expect from the lesson. I have the majority of
students who have good potential in learning English.
Weakness- The class is quite
chaotic. I’ve noticed that my voice projection was not good. I even had a problem
asking the students to keep quiet. Plus, I do feel like my class is lacking excitement.
Opportunity- I can still improvise
my lesson by creating a fun activity for the students to do. I have my mentor
to seek advice in order to improve my teaching way. The school has conducted a
lot of programs that will help me to enhance my vision as a teacher.
Threat- Students who lack the motivation to learn English. During my second week, I realize that the workload
has gotten me feeling a little bit tired but I think I will manage to change my
mindset.
Below are some pictures taken for the second week:
